^1. Long ago, and far away,

There lived a man named Adam, and his wife, Eve.

They lived in a beautiful garden called Eden,

Which was planted by God and watered by four mighty rivers.

^2. But even in the sanctuary of Eden, evil lurked.

A great Serpent, called Satan, had entered

God’s perfect garden, and seduced Adam and Eve

To defy God’s rule and yield to sin and temptation.

^3. Since then the race of humankind

Has lived in utter darkness …

… but there was a promise …

^4. Someday, a son would be born to a daughter of Eve,

And he would rise up against the Serpent,

To take back the Garden of Eden,

And restore Paradise.

^5. Late in time that son finally came

And he was born … to a virgin.
